Composer and music production the\u00a0soundtrack for live contemporary Dance show \u00a0Under The Skin<\/a><\/em>\u00a0 by Sadhana Dance. Premiered 17th May 2013. Composed in collaboration with Kathy Hinde<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Choreographed by Sadhana\u2019s artistic director Subathra Subramaniam, working hand in hand with Professor Roger Kneebone (former trauma surgeon, now Professor of Surgical Education at Imperial College London) and her regular collaborators the composers and visual artists Kathy Hinde and Matthew Olden, and lighting designer Aideen Malone.<\/p>\n

Exploring and evoking the unseen, unspoken practices of the operating theatre, Under My Skin opens a closed and clinical world to a wider public view. Drawing on Bharata Natyam technique and contemporary choreography, three highly-skilled performers invite the audience to share a rare insight into the operating theatre where intricate detail, perfect timing and precisely controlled exchanges are as important as they are in dance.<\/p>\n

Drawing on Bharata Natyam technique and contemporary choreography, three highly-skilled performers invite the audience to share a rare insight into the operating theatre where intricate detail, perfectly timed exchanges and analytical spatial patterns challenge the traditional boundaries between clinical practice and dance.<\/p>\n

The performance is preceded with various curated activities including surgical simulations alongside craft and clinical experts showcasing their relationship to surgery.<\/p>\n

Each performance will be followed by a Cafe Scientifique where Quentin Cooper will chair a discussion between the artists and scientists involved in the show and the audience.<\/p>\n

Co-commissioned by Pavilion Dance South West and ICIA Bath. Supported by Akademi, Dance 4, South East Dance, Buckinghamshire New University and Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts.<\/p>\n
